In the early stages of his career, he focused on preventing mother-to-child transmission of HIV through breastfeeding in African populations. He later helped establish a research platform with the humanitarian organization ALIMA (The Alliance for International Medical Action) to conduct innovative, high-quality research in sub-Saharan Africa, including randomized clinical trials and interventional cohort studies, aimed at improving maternal and child health outcomes in complex and security-sensitive settings.
